Q: So based on the background story of the roleplay, are vampires and werewolves members of the public? They’re not secretive groups that humans think don’t exist; they’re around and real?
A: Yes. Vampires and werewolves are considered citizens of the United States and are not hiding from humans or keeping themselves secret. That said, this doesn’t mean that every person believes that there are actually werewolves or vampires. Just like in real life people have different beliefs and thoughts on vampires and werewolves, so do people in this site. Your characters can choose to believe “ah bologna, vamps and weres ain’t real.” They can believe in different variations of vampires. They can believe that vampires are totally possible but there’s no physical way a human can turn into a beast once a month. For all your characters know, werewolves are totally made up but it is definitely possible for a man to shift into some kind of beast, maybe a horse or a puppy. But keep in mind the public is well aware of the existence of vampires and werewolves. They do appear in the news. They do work with your characters. They live around your characters like normal people.
Q: Are all the other species evil?
A: No. Vampires, werewolves, and humans are all individual. Some are good, some are evil, and some are both. Their choices are totally up to you. It is up to you whether you want a goody good, an evil villain, or some normal bob who tips well but steals all the sugar packets at the diner.
Q: Okay, so if the public is aware of them, where do werewolves go during the full moon? It’s sort of illegal for dogs to bite humans, what about wolves?
A: Same thing as with dogs, werewolf attacks are frowned upon. The Anomaly Unit/Government has provided buildings that have cells where werewolves can go on the full moon to shift safely. Once again, whether your character uses these or knows about them is up to you, but they are available to the public. If your werewolf does kill someone or attack someone, and it is reported, the local authorities and Anomaly Unit may come investigating and/or make an arrest.
Q: How are vampires gonna feed?
A: If your vampire can find a sympathizing blood bank, go there. Otherwise pig’s blood is a good secondary option. Vampires do not receive the nutrients they need from any other blood. Human or pig, take your pick. Otherwise, another option could be find humans who are willing to share a portion of their blood, but this is risky because vampires may lose control and drain the human. Really if you want a lawful vampire, go with blood packages.
Q: What sort of weapons do the Anomaly Unit use?
A: This only applies to agents, but the following weapons have been heard of amongst dealers and civilians. Anomaly Unit agents use stakes, usually clipped to their belt or somewhere on their persons, and a gun that shoots specialty bullets. If you’re a werewolf agent, the bullets are silver. If you’re a vampire agent, they are specially made bullets containing holy water. Agents may also carry some container with holy water in it, or perhaps powdered pure silver. Agents may also carry crucifixes. These are the only known weapons used by the Anomaly Unit that the public can be aware of. The labrats may be working on other weapons deep in the depths of the secret Anomaly Unit base.
Q: How do werewolves live forever?
A: That is genuinely up to you. There are born and bitten werewolves. Borns are more likely to live significantly longer compared to bitten weres, but whether or not the werewolf ages or lives eternally is up to you.
Q: What are the werewolves like?
A: The werewolves are like the ones that are hunched over and gross looking from the older movies, they do not turn into fuzzy wolves. Think American Werewolf in London or Lupin from Harry Potter.
Q: Can vampires photograph?
A: Yes.
Q: Do vampires need an invitation to enter private residences?
A: Nope.
